“No matter how beautiful your outer world looks, it’s what’s on the inside that’s important. And if your inner world is messy and unhealthy, nothing that you get on the outside will ever make you happy. On the other hand, if your inner world is healthy and complete, the simplest and most basic of things in your outer world will fill your heart and soul. The greatest treasures of life truly are the inner ones.”
- Robin Sharma

FAQs
-
Yes! Absolutely. In fact, most of our guests come on their own. It's a wonderful gift to yourself to immerse yourself in a new experience and connect with the retreat group. You'll also have chances for solo down time to ensure you leave feeling rested and recharged.
-
I choose to host small, intimate retreats with about 8-11 retreaters. I like this because it allows me to spend time with each of you, be available to assist with whatever you need, and it helps facilitate the calm, grounded energy that I like to carry throughout the week. Don't get me wrong, we'll certainly be having lots of fun and there will be excited, dynamic energy too! A small group means that you don't get lost in the crowd, there is plenty of space for you to find quiet time when needed and there will always be a teacher available (myself or my guest teacher) to answer any questions that come up.
-
Not at all - everything is completely optional. This is your retreat and I invite you to fully sink in to what serves you, taking what you need and leaving the rest. If you'd like to skip a practice, activity, or anything at all, you are always welcome to, and I can help coordinate any different activities you may wish to do in that time (or perhaps you just want some extra chill time by the pool!).
-
I hear you! I was really nervous to try surfing for the first time too. Now, having surfed in the area and having worked with the coaches that I've hired for this retreat, I can assure you that this is a wonderful opportunity to start learning! Our retreat is located at a private beach, which means you will have space in the water to learn and to make mistakes. It's a sandy bottom (no rocks!) and the November waves are often soft and very forgiving. The coaches will begin your lesson on land to cover the technique and safety protocols, then they will be with you in the water, guiding you every step of the way.
-
Wonderful! Instead of the lesson, I’d be delighted to arrange a complimentary board rental for you, allowing you to explore the waves at your leisure.
-
Three meals per day are included with your retreat (pre-breakfast, breakfast, dinner). They are family style meals and are catered to your preferences. Upon registration, you'll have the opportunity to let me know if you have any dietary requirements or preferences. There is also an honour bar at the pool, stocked with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as snacks (guacamole, ceviche, tostones) available for purchase throughout the afternoon.
-
There are different room options to choose from. The most luxurious is our Queen casita which is a private casita (little house!) with high quality linens, private bathroom (fully stocked with locally made, natural products), private balcony, and screened in so that you can feel the ocean breeze as you drift off.
We also have one poolside room available that has a double bed, high quality linens, private bathroom (fully stocked with locally made, natural products), patio with chair, and air conditioning. -
We suggest to fly into either Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) or Managua, Nicaragua (MGA). Flying to Liberia will offer direct flight options from Toronto and many other major cities. The retreat centre is about equal travel time (2.5 hours) from both Managua and Liberia.
Airport transfers will be arranged from/to either Managua or Liberia airports. Prices vary depending on how many people are taking the same transfer. Per person price can be between $40 - $175 USD per trip, depending on which airport and how many people arrive at a similar time.

Teacher + FacilitatorIt is my joy and passion to share the practice of yoga. Knowing how much it goes beyond the physical practice, I am fortunate to witness how it can change lives, just as it has changed mine.
Trust yourself, trust your practice.
Your Guide
Emily loves the simple joys in life. The first sip of coffee in the morning, the warmth of the sun, the sounds of nature. Practicing and teaching yoga has allowed her to connect more deeply to these simple joys, and this is what she loves to share with her students. It's not about what shape you make with your body, it's about what you learn from and through the movement. Emily has a passion for movement which began with her love of dance from age six. She has been teaching yoga since 2016.
Emily is also a part-time elementary school teacher. Since she was a child she knew she wanted to be a teacher. She loves experiencing the simple joys with her students and learns so much from them about how to enjoy and embrace the present moment.
While teaching yoga, Emily exudes joy and invites her students to try their best, especially when facing challenges. She offers gentle and encouraging guidance to help those following explore their own movement a bit deeper. She is passionate about giving people tools through yoga to help them gain focus and perspective in their daily lives.
Emily aims to live a healthy life in her mind, body, and soul, on and off the mat. She loves to spend time in nature and be close to the water. Emily grew up and currently has her home base in Canada, though she is regularly on the move, traveling and teaching around the world as well as online.
With a heart full of adventure, Emily is at home wherever she is.

The delight in Emily’s eyes to see us open our gifts was priceless. Emily went the extra mile. I wore the beads all week and when I got to our next destination I found a shell on the beach and added it to the bead necklace.

My husband and I have been taking Emily's online classes and recently participated in her one day Yoga retreat. Emily has a beautiful gift- not only guiding Yoga practices in such a unique and beautiful way but she also makes everyone feel very comfortable and safe. Thank you Emily and keep doing what you do!
